RIP Maggie T

A sad loss of the only post war leader that actually did anything constructive for the UK.

  1. Divisive but positive and able to put national best interest before popularity, something very rare in our political leaders.

Good to see at least one blog lamenting the lady's passing rather than some of the pathetic glee to be found elsewhere. I guess my upbringing of not speaking ill of the dead was not supposed to apply to Tory prime ministers, if some of the anonymous cretins are to be believed.

  2. Sadly Tom, those that can't see past the appalling entitlement culture that now pervades the UK simply attempt to ridicule someone who championed standing on one's own feet, and bettering yourself through your own endevours.

Sadly those qualities have now been largely replaced with what can be extracted from the benefits system, with little/no imput.

I can't agree with all her actions, but she was by FAR the most positive force in the UK since Churchill fought them on the beaches!

Sadly the small minded people will now snipe from the safety of anonomous posts, not fit to really address Maggie T, let alone comment on her achievements.

  3. I have mixed opinions over her legacy, but there's no doubt that she was for real (none of the cosying up to pop stars by Blair or supporting gay marriage by Cameron just to stay popular).

  4. I think it's fair to say UK would have been finished without her, let alone the Falkland islanders.

  5. This was a sad day in the Smithson house. And TDC have lost nearly as much as Maggies funeral in a couple of weeks....
