You have to laugh at Driver

Once again, the most tragic and desperate politician in Kent humiliates himself for our amusement, and his poor families shame.

I think he genuinely believes that only priests have abused their power over people down the years.

That's the problem with those of limited intellect that manage to get elected, they are CLUELESS about the real world, as Driver proves daily.

  1. John,

You clearly have a poor opinion of Cllr Ian Driver. I do not know him.

    1. I wouldn't say it was poor or otherwise. I merely post accurate comment of Driver's inept and comedic incompetance, not to mention his willingness to abuse his position in many ways, including inciting others to commit criminal acts.

I base my opinion of Driver upon these facts and his actions.

  2. I remember all too well being in the grip of fear over "coming out", and also being part of the Church. Not a good place to be, and thankfully a long time ago.

  3. Solo Gays, Ian Driver is not in the grip of fear about coming out, as he says in his blogsite he is a husband and father to three daughters, and one cannot help but feel that in his case, his claimed bisexuality is just another badge to wear on the soap box.

Whereas I would agree that many in power misuse their office to engage in the sexual abuse of others it is not unique to the church nor any particularly sexual orientation. With Driver ones feels it is just another drum to beat, he is a declared atheist and so, riddled with hate of the right, the establishment and the church, his current target is the clergy. Last week it was the obese (his word not mine) mayor of Ramsgate.

John H, I have had a confrontation with Ian Driver in the street, at that point total strangers, but me being recognised politically by the leafets I was delivering, where I was subjected to a torrent of foul mouthed abuse. Not a nice man, methinks.

    1. You seem to have hit the nail squarely on the head Tom! Driver will cearly don whatever hat he perceives will bring him the most publicity. If there was a referendum tomorrow on live exports, which came out strongly in favour of sticking daisy on a ferry to France, Driver would be folding daisy into the boot of his car for the camera's without a modecome of shame!

I'm sure Driver is a foul mouthed neanderthal oaf, that much is obvious, that would be why he doesn't allow comment on his blog he doesn't like, the poor dumb oaf isn't bright enough to defend his comedic daubings.

  4. Tom,

Though I have never met Driver, I get the impression that he is an obnoxious man. What continues to puzzle me is why those of left carry such hatred for those who disagree with them.

    1. Sadly, John, theirs is the politics of class hatred and rebellion and where even success is considered a crime. Yet, hypocritically, once in power the tendency to stick snouts in the trough, think Kinnock, Scargill, Blair, becomes over powering. Similarly anything that might stand in their way of absolute power over the people, like the church, becomes a target for their abuse.

    2. Sadly John, Tom has it right. The politics of the left are hate filled jealousy of those who have managed to create a good life for themselves, and they want the same given to them as they think they deserve it as of right.

They rarely have a credible idea how to make anything better, they just demand more and more for less and less, which ultimately leads to their destruction, and destruction for those that are fool enough to follow them.

Arther Scargill & the NUM is a perfect example.

  5. I too have had my doubts about the conduct of Ian Driver, but I feel too much is at stake to share them here at this present moment in time.

The way I have read the situation, is that we have yet another outsider come here and see all these problems on the Isle, and will have a go at just about anyone who he thinks is behind them. Very high risk I know, but its just that I am inclined to wait to see the outcome of his meeting today before making up my mind.

I am very sorry to hear of your ugly confrontation.

    1. Solo Gays, I grew up here and, like most of my generation, I had to leave to build a career elsewhere. My attachment to the place remained and I returned later in my working life when close proximity to London became less essential.

True Thanet has its problems, but they are not so much different to those of my youth. Our main problem has always been a lack of bigger employers aggravated still further by the Pfizer situation. Thus Ian Driver has found nothing new and, in any event, it is all about promoting himself and his political ambitions. Before Thanet it was Wandsworth.

People like David Green, Simon Moores, Chris Wells and Iris Johnson, to name but a few of our district councillors, are far more committed to public service and the good of the area than Driver will ever know how to be.

    2. Tom, since you mention two of our most committed district councillors; I notice a Labour Party candidate has written on their blogsite what I consider to be a compelling piece about the poisons in the food chain, and the tragic consequences this has for those on the breadline.

To me this is a classic example of "talking sense and cutting through the bullshit". The only trouble is, this has sadly not attracted any comments. Such is the fascination with Ian Driver instead.

    3. Which blogsite is that, S G, for I would like to read it. It surprise me not that much of the quiet efficient or research into issues by our other elected representatives goes unnoticed, for such is the aim of the Driver type shouters.

    4. It is the most recent on Michaels' blog list by Thanet Lab called "BAD FOOD". It is written by R L Symonds, who is a candidate for Broadstairs and Sir Moses Montefiore Ward(I assume for the upcoming KCC elections in May).

    5. Still no comments below on the "BAD FOOD" article??

You would think someone from their own camp would at least comment?

    6. Sadly, S G, I think most of them can't read!

    7. Well, S G, thanks to your directions I got to read the 'Bad Food' article, but, whereas it has some valid points, it is far too politicised for my taste. Typical Labour digs, like the one on selective schools, discredit it as a work of any real merit on its subject.

It is this left/right divide that ruins progress in this country and prevents the best of our elected representatives working together to find solutions. It is the same politics of so called class warfare that motivates yet discredits Driver.

Incidentally, on the 11+, the opponents never mention that the sixth forms of our Kent grammar schools are open to all youngsters who achieve the required GCSE grades, a system which lets many have another shot a fulfilling their potential. No, they would rather blindly believe that the generally recognised as failed one size fits all comprehensive system somehow helps ordinary kids.

Well I grew up on a council estate, my dad was a Labour activist and I am eternally grateful that I went to a grammar school.

  7. See over on Driver's Thanet, a name that makes me think it is perhaps time to move as it has a Siberian ring to it, this foolish man tries to make fun of his disciplinary hearing. Devoid of any respect for the office he holds, he seems to feel that everyone else is an idiot apart from himself. Mind you, psychiatrists will tell you that the average village idiot thinks he is the only normal person in the hamlet.

He concludes that, by saying he knew who was responsible for the Ramsgate vandalism, he was let off. Well we all know who was responsible for encouraging it, so no big secret there. What is concerning though is that Clive Hart has not stripped him of the Scrutiny chair, but then a party that can, on its own blog, somehow associate obesity with the 11+ cannot really be taken seriously.
